What is Kite Surfing?

Kite Surfing is also known as Kite Boarding, Traction Kiting, Fly Surf and Power Kiting. All-Terrain Boarders around the world are turning to this type of wind propulsion as an alternative to gravity propulsion (riding down hills).

Kite boarding is a relatively new trend with roots in windsurfing. Riders use light weight steerable parachutes or stacked up kites that are flown similar to traditional kites but using either 2 or 4 lines to pull you on your board down the beach, across open fields, up mountain slopes and across desert hardpack.

The sport evolved from the water and has made it's way onto dry land using All-Terrain Boards and Riding Buggies. The sport has gained a huge following in France, Scotland, Hawaii, The Netherlands, The Mojave Desert in CA and throughout the world.

Most beginners travel downwind until they develop the skills for going upwind. Downwind sailing is the most popular way to Kite Board. Kite Boarders often do downwind runs and hitch a ride back upwind to do it again.

Kite Board jumping uses the kite to lift the flyer off the ground and cushion their return back to the ground. Many good riders who use traction kites catch big air, traveling up to 10 feet in height or more and 50 to 100 feet in length from leaving the ground to touching back down!

For All-Terrain Board Riders who are interested in Kite Boarding (traction kiting), getting Kites or generally want to learn more about Kite Surfing, we suggest you visit Naish Sails. Naish is the world leader in Kite Surfing and offers the best Kites and related equipment in the industry. MONGOOSE is dedicated to offering Kite Board riders the every best equipment, we believe that's by Naish. www.NaishSails.com
WARNING: Kite Boarding is an extreme sport that requires a high degree of riding skills and a good understanding of kite flying and sailing. As with any aspect of All-Terrain Boarding protective gear is a must!
