It was impressive. The helicopters had no sooner touched down than the boys were swamped with TV cameras. They were just as blown away by it all as the crowd. World 4WD Dirtboard Champion Quentin Robbins top right, Designer Glenn Anderson top left.

Mission Impossible

We rang in nine of the world's top extreme athletes and gave them the mission. Strap high-performance 4WD Dirtboards to your feet, careen around over rough terrain at speeds of up to 55 km/h, and try NOT to get excited. It was an impossible mission. They couldn't. "These things crank..." said Quentin Robbins just back from winning the 1st Asian Pro snowboard tour "...they go off".

Insanity versus gravity

And go off they did. The first inaugural Off-Road Boarding World Chapionships were held at an all-terrain boarder-cross circuit on McLeans Island, New Zealand this October. It was insane. A clash- of-the-codes event pitting four radical Skateboard, Snowboard, Jet Ski and Motocross teams against each other for the title of the worlds quickest code.

Blood Thirsty

A huge thrill-seeking crowd of 1000+ gathered eager for action. Speculation was hot as to who would be the world's fastest Dirtboarder. With top extreme Olympic and Pro Snowboard & Skateboarders, and National title holders including a previous 3rd at the World Jet Ski champs, and a fearless quad-racer straight-off jumping a cool 136-feet at his last race on the U.S. pro circuit; There was plenty to get excited about. Big dirty air, deadly drop-offs, killer burms and full-speed 4WD drifting. These boys blitzed the terrain. They were recklessly entertaining and there were crashes aplenty.
